I am looking at adding a page to a web site to provide the code so that people can easily add the link on their page if they like the page.
Has any one had any good or bad experiences with this?

Hey Timona,
After recently noticing that a lot of sites that are ranking well in Google are doing this, I've added a script to a few of my sites.
Since I just added it, I can't say it works or not, but I do have to say that I've seen this technique on a variety of high ranking sites.

I like sites that have this feature. It makes it very easy to add a link to their site and saves a lot of trouble. It also allows you to specify the link text and the description they will use.

DrCool, Timona is referring to a page with information on how to link to your site... not add their own links.

The best one of these I've seen is a script that seems to be really common in Europe but I couldn't seem to find a copy here from my usual sources. It incorporates a robot to check that the person has already set a link to your site and then lets user add a link to a specified links page on your site (I am, like the Dr., assuming that most linkees want a reciprocal). If anyone is familiar with this link script and knows where you can get it, I'd be grateful.

I too have added this facility to my site. I find it hard to receive links and disappointingly have not found it to add any success. Having said that, I used to send the link code in my request email anyway!
I am currently taking the approach of adding the link on my site first, then emailing asking for a reciprocal link. Of course, I remove the link if I do not receive one.
