One of our sites was ranked #4 on a keyword about 10 days ago, now it has been blasted back to page 7.
I checked the links and Google reports 2 links with the
link: command
BUT our site has pages of links, and you can find them with the
"domain.+com" command.
Why is google not counting all the links as LINKS, only as a string contained in other pages?
Any experience with this?
There could be many reasons for this.
1. In competitive online industries/marketing, google updates and everflux, new pages appear all the time. This means that NOW -- many new pages could be more relevant to a query than yours.
2. As you work on improving your pages and rankings so are others, they could have tweak their pages better. It is highly probable that the top ranked pages are backed by professional SEO'ers and not merely there by accident.
3. If a high PageRank page(s) pointing to you were recently removed this could affect your potential to list high.
4. Google has (most likely) tweaked their algo. Which by many observations here have attributed less reliance on internal pages and their PageRank.
5. a clitch -- sometimes a google burp occurs, and you drop. If this is the case it is likely that your ranks will improve.
