Why is Google so extremely slow with updating dmoz listings?

URLs which have been deleted from dmoz a month ago are still with google with a dmoz category link. Why not update dmoz data a little faster?

From what I've seen in the past, it takes between a month and three for Google to update their version of the DMOZ directory.
If it's your site, then you are getting exposure for a little longer, for free, if you get dropped from the directory, which might not be a bad thing, imho.
