Given that Yahoo are now mixing the results from google and their listings why is it when for a two word phrase in google I am number one and three out of 418000 and in Yahoo I cant find myself in the first three hundred, there arent many Yahoo directory sites in the that three hundred also its out of 444000, unfortunately one of the words in the phrase didnt make it into my title and description that yahoo gave me when i got listed for free. however I would have expected to be near the top using the same two keywords as in google.
for another two word prase that is in my Yahoo title and description I was number 70 (out of 257) but nowhere on Google (only been listed a month and only 3 low ranking links to me) which wasnt a problem, now I am nowhere full stop unless you select directory sites only.

wondering where the extra 22000 sites are from, there arent that many Yahoo sites with the same two word about 9 last time i checked

Posted the above in the Yahoo section but no-one answered so thought would try here.

As an extra I used WPGold to see where I stood in both Yahoo and Google and again number 1 and 3 in google but not in first 800 in Yahoo directory, only found in Yahoo if I look in Yahoo sites and then have to use different keywords due to different title and description.

So if Yahoo are using Google results how do they rank them as there are only 9 sites in Yahoo that show for the same two keywords so its not like a load of Yahoo results are above the Google ones.

allonline, I haven't got your Yahoo answer, but please don't use WPG to query Google. It isn't a good idea at all.

Dont normally use WPG but I noticed something else while seaching for another url i have. Its not listed in Yahoo so I expected the results to be just pages Google but when I search for my url to see how many pages listed like I would in google to see if the latest pages have been updated and listed only about 9 out the 27 listed in google showed and these were early ones.

this led me to think that perhaps Yahoo doesnt have the latest or a complete database access to google, which would explain some of the different rankings people have been getting.

For example in google if i seach for a url that is fairly new few links to it but is placed in yahoo, 12 pages show up with the search phrase used- my listing in google, my directory listing in yahoo, 3 others that happen to have the search phrase but are dead and the rest are sites that link to me.

However if i type the same phrase in yahoo only 3 sites show up, 2 that have the same phrase and my yahoo listing, no google listing results at all.

Therefore yahoo cant be using the latest google data as the site was listed in google and yahoo for free at the same time about a 5 weeks ago.

If say they are a month behind then no-one will see their latest google PR until next month in Yahoo results.

Anyone else able to confirm the difference in listings.

Ive never been listed or applied to be listed in Yahoo or DMOZ but have always come in between 1 - 5 for site searches. Google searches make up aprox 70% of search returns. Since Yahoo combined google results, my ratio is approx 70% yahoo hits, 30% google, discounting teoma, lycos and Inktomi. Pretty good considering i refuse to pay yahoo 's BS rates ( double cos im in Aus.)
