Why does Google name has been dropped?

and who are those providerS? I know there is google but what are the others?

The plural part has me wondering also...perhaps they are de-branding googles serps to make it posible in the future to introduce other search providers. The third party providers may also include overture who provide the PPC listings on the serps.
