i have one question: my main domain is pr 2 with pr 0 on all internal pages.penalized.

i "sacrificed" one domain that has good ranking in SEs and mirrored penalized domain.

what should i do?

1.delete all content on penalized site and leave only this new mirror?
2.put stop on google spider on penmalized domain?
3. jsut leave it and google will display domain that has higher rank. as i am thinking - google wont penalize for mirroring SINCE i have no crosslinking of these two domains. if google would penalize 2 mirrors which are NOT crosslinked then this would be too easy to kill competion right?

i like number 3, number 2 i dont like since i am getting hits from other SEs.

any suggestions?

Jon

ps: why cant we edit message title?i made a typo?how can i correct this?

Jon, I'm not 100% clear on what you did. Is this second, non-penalized domain ranking for the content that's identical to the other domain that is penalized?

If it's getting traffic from other search engines, that would remain the same if you just exclude Googlebot. What I think is a concern with this solution is how other search engines handle duplicate content across two domain names.

Here's Google's instructions on removing a domain from the index:
[google.com...]

Question: can you exclude Googlebot with robots.txt AND use a 301 redirect from the penalized domain to the new. Google picks up a 301 redirect easy enough (which you don't want them to in this case), but with others it's not so simple. Ink still has an old URL listed for a site that was redirected with 301 back in July. They've got the new URL, just showing a different page with the other for a different search term.
