my page rank is not working & even applied algorithm and PPC

two things
1 - my goolge tool bar has been installed for a bit and I just noticed the page rank is not working (no site I visit receives a rank) I tried to install a new one, but google just won't do it. Ideas?

2 - Do you think the algorithms are applied differently depending on the KW? For example would the results for the highest searched KWs behave any differently than the results for more niche KWs...? Further do you think the PPC will affect results. For my niche I notice that the people paying to be in the PPC are generally in the top 10... but not alwasy.

On the toolbar:
Click: the Google Logo > Toolbar Options
ensure you have advanced features turned on.
If you are using ie 6 ensure you allow Google to read Cookies (may or may not affect it)

The other thing to do is go to tools > internet options > Settings > View Objects
there will be a column that lists the status of ActiveX objects, see if Google is damaged.
if so click remove then go re-install it.

You really should re-install if you have not in a while because there are a few very easy security exploits with it. All have been fixed.
