Does linking to higher PR sites affect our PR?

Will linking to higher PR relevant sites boost our own?

Couldn't find much doing a quick searchm so thought I would ask the question.

We are PR 6. We publish lots of info from other companies, and their sites are sometimes 7 or 8.

Will linking to them affect our PR at all?

No it should not, that is if the original Pagerank formula still holds.

There are speculations that serving your visitors quality external resources (links) should help your "Hubbiness" (being perceived as a hub).

How that should help your rankings and how Google would compute these effects is yet another speculation..:)
