We've grown so much that we're not only selling golf clubs. We are selling golf apparel. Golf apparel just doesn't go very well under the domain names of either of the other sites.

After all of our success, we decided to build a site as a resource to the golf community with a forum, player statistics, and an extensive directory of country clubs in the United States.

My questions:
(these are meant to be questions that would apply to many situations)
1) Is it OK to feed all the products in sites 2 and 3 into the shopping cart on site one?
2) Is it OK to post a link to sites 1,2 and 3 on every page of site 4, since site 4 is 'sponsored by' those sites?
3) As a general rule, if all for sites have plenty of incoming links from other sites besides 1 thru 4, is it OK to interlink them pretty heavily?
Explanation: It seems that anyone visiting any of the 4 sites would have a good reason to want to see any one of the other sites. As a matter of fact, they may like our company enough to want to know about our other product lines. Maybe I'm just deluded, but wouldn't this be valid crosslinking?
I can't see where this would concern Google.
>>>2) Is it OK to post a link to sites 1,2 and 3 on every page of site 4, since site 4 is 'sponsored by' those sites?<<<
Probably be ok since they are not linking back. But the answer will be pure speculation at this point.

I'd shy away from this one.
This forum may have saved me a ton of misery. I had 3 sites totally cross linked (every page) around the 1st of this year. I got away with it for about three months with no ill affects. I followed the forum for about 3 weeks before I discovered the meaning of cross linking. Took them down real quick.
I just left the links on the 1st pages only. I consider that good advertising and have had no problem with it. Didn't lose any PR.
To bad Google can't just count a predetermined amount of links from any url. That way we could link all we want. I consider that a form of advertising, but I would shy away from the idea at present.
