PR or linkpopularity which one to work on first

Hen or the egg, both inter-related, none can originate without the other

Hi,

I need advice.

Everyone knows these days link popularity has become very important. Google will not give you PR value until you have some good links.

I am narrating the experience I am going through while trying to increase the link popularity of my new site.

But believe me that getting ethical links for a NEW site is extremely DIFFICULT. (even if there is good content). People said that they will not link back to me until my PR is atleast 4.

So, what is the solution, Google will not rank me until I have a good PR and people are saying that they will not link until the PR is atleast 4. So how do i increase my PR if they do not link. Some of them even went to the extent of saying that

" Your site is not bad at all. In fact I liked your site a lot. But your PR is zero, I assume as you are a new one. Reply to this mail when your PR is atleat 4. I would put a link. "

Mine is a new site officially launched on 25th August 2002. Ofcourse initially the PR will be 0. But it has excellent content and I have use a ZEROSPAM methodology in my site. I had the assumption that Content is king and people will link to me if my content is good. But I am unable to get good links as every body is checking my PR and replying in negative.

Please advise how to get good links for my new site. Else Google will ignore me.

In distress,

A.Somani

The first two links you should get are links from Yahoo and DMOZ. If you get listed in both these places a PR 4 should be no problem. You can also look for other topic specific directories to submit to. There are almost always some of these for nearly every type of site. After this you should have the PR 4 you are looking for and should be able to get the links from these other sites.

Swap links with other sites, dmoz is a must that is a auto push for googles alg. in PR. even more so, other sites that use the dmoz data you can show up in their links also. More links are good, less links are bad :) everything goes hand in hand - get the links you get the PR. Shoot some emails to some websites you think would link you - its not hard at all to get a link when you compliment the webmasters work ;)
