Acceptable reciprocal linking?

I have about 5 different sites right now,
and at the bottom of each one, I have,
"website design and hosting by" linked to my site....

On my site, I have a one link to each page under a portfolio section.

Is this risky practice,
or is the "theme" of the link making it legitimate?

My guess is that a lot of people here will say it is a bad idea, I do it though and have had no problems - yet anyway!

I think the key thing is to make sure that each of those other sites have other links going to and from them.

This is a legitimate setup, I wouldn't worry about it. Portfolios and link backs from client sites are perfectly acceptable.
