My site is showing fresh date of 21st Sept. But still there have been no updates in the page title or the cache. I checked the log files but there has been no visits by the google crawler after 2 Sept.

What is this unusual behaviour and will the changes to the site show up in September Update. Has the september full update taken place.

welcome to webmasterworld santa <<is it that time of year already. :)

The update hasn't taken place yet, but should happen within the next couple of days. hopefuly soon. The pages that you have seen crawled in the past few days will have been caused by minor updates that happen throught the month. The main monthly update will determine your page rank and your cached pages. The cache seams to only update at the main monthly update. The serps themselfes seam to update slightly throught the month. The update should be here soon so hold on tight and good luck.

I think I was not able to make my point.
My site and similar sites display updated date of 21st july.
The other sites content and cache are both updated.

But my pages do not seem to be updated. Then why did google
change the update dates. Whilst some other sites which do not have
an update date are actually not updated.

The other site that has been updated....

was this a new site that is just making it's way into Google?

Hi Santa
For Christmas I just want a #1 ranking for the search "I have too much money". The problem is I need it with the next update.
I now am showing fresh dates of sept 22. By the way they appeared at 11:23 Pacific Standard Time on September 22. Still don't think this is the update if wre getting one. I would expect pages that have been changed since the last update to show up with the changes regardless of freshness.

Again the same problem. My site shows update date as 22 Sept.
But the same older content exists. Even my log file shows no
sign of googlebot after 2 Sept.

Whilst other sites with date 22sept show the latest content in
cache and title that appears in the search result.

Try [search.cometsystems.com...] and see what the cache date says.

I'm showing the 22nd and a minor change that was made the day before is showing in the cache already.

santa, we track the changes during the month in a thread so it's easier to follow, you might want to take a look through:

On the 22nd (yesterday) I saw both a ranking change (small fall) and a content change.

I changed hosts earlier this month, and the holding page that was live for only a few hours, whilst the DNS was changed, has now appeared in the SERPS as my main page, ranking for my best key phrases.

The lower level pages still appear.

Hopefully the everflux will get my main page back again soon, however something happened yesterday!

just a quick addition: has anyone thought they may be having technical probs? They may have been trying things and it didn't work, or db probs or something?

Marcia,

I understand the Everflux effect that took place throughout the
month of September. By the way my company manages many sites and
almost all of them if visited by googlebot in the mid sept showed
an updated date and these pages were also refereshed.

Put pretty old site of ours with a PR of 6 was redesigned after a
period of 2 years. After 20 days of redesign Googlebot crawled all
the pages successfully including the new and older pages.

Now for past few days google is showing the current updated date
on this site. However there has been no visits from googlebot at all
recently i.e. after 2nd sept. And neither have my pages refereshed.

Hope I have made myself pretty clear.

also, is there any chance that when they are showing fresh dates of 22nd, it's likely that there'll be a delayed update this time, maybe not before Sunday?

I just used the tool bar for some PR stuff and I made some search for some big keywords like car and so on and the PR was gray on all my search on the Google search result site. Its like the sites are not in there index anymore maybe that is a sign of a new update soon, my guess is wednesday.
