2 domains with same content = ban?

Hi all.. here is an intriguing problem I am facing -
I am consulting one of the leading software companies, and to my dismay I found another software company of equal size and a nasty rival, owns 2 domains with same content, running over to about 1000 pages. Content ditto same for all the pages. But there is no instance of interlinking the two domains and they stand apart. Is that reason enough for Google to ban the domains if it finds out? You may hate me as a jealous competitor! Thanx

Google manages this - unless they aren't cheating more than this, g will not ban it but kick one of the domains - normaly the one with the lowest pr / link pop. This is true if they are real doublicates. If they are still in g after next update i would think about emailing them - maybe they don't know about this "don't" - if they really do it for cheating i would report it to g.

Competition is good - the game is fair as long as the competitors aren't doubles! :-)

I have 2 domains with the similar content, G dont kick one, simply don't show both in the SERP, only show the one with higher PG, but if you look for the pages with "keyword site:your2ndsite.com" google have it indexed.

dario, that's right. I didn't mean kicking = banning. What you see is exactly what i mean.

Another question:

Is there any difference between: a) having both domains simply co-existing and b) having an automatic redirect from one domain to another?

Yidaki - Thanx for the moral courage. Both the sites here in question have PR 7 and same no. of inbound links. When you search for a Keyword, for which site is ranked at top, 2 pages from each domain come in SERP, taking off the first 4 places. Hey! by the way I just found out there is another domain with same content but not yet indexed. The gravity of matter is pretty serious as both mine and my competitor companies are the leading companies in my country and operate in the same area. I am thinking, am I in for a fair competition?
