Hi Everyone,
This is my second time of posting. I think the first one got deleted as I put the URL of the site and the site that links to us for reference. Sorry if I offended anyone. It wasn't for hits, I just want to try go get an answer for this. So, I'll try again.

Hi All,
We have a site that has been listed in Google for around 8 weeks now. The thing is the Page Rank is stuck firmly on zero and hence we are getting no Google hits practically.
I've tried the . . .
link:http://etc,etc,etc
and Google insists that no sites link to me, but they do and have done since day 1. They have been crawled, we have been crawled. Still it says no links to us. Sites that link to us typically have a page rank around 5 or 6.
The stranger thing is that we have affiliate partners. We do get a listing on Google when searching for "keyword phrase", but it was coming up with the affiliate partner code in the URL. For instance . . .
[*******.com?PARTNER=IBS...]
So, we got the site to take the affiliate code off for a while, so now it has picked on another . . .
[*******.com?PARTNER=8098...]
Has anyone got any ideas if this is normal behaviour? Am I just expecting too much too soon? Or, is Google purposefully ignoring our incoming links for some reason.

Thanks very much in advance for any suggestions

welcome to WebmasterWorld Beans,

do a site search on Pagerank 0 or PR0 with the search "site search" function on top of this window. (you can also use Google for this).

It could be several things:

- being part of a bad neighborhood
- just getting links from low Pagerank'ed sites with a lot of links on them.
- the sites linking to you might not allow Googlebot to follow/index the links.
- the sites linking to you might use javascript redirects
- your own page might be into things Google does not like.

only links over PR 4 show up in the backward links list dont they...?

it is odd that you dont even have PR 1...i suggest looking through past queries on the subject...

Their pretty bored of "i have PR0" woes in here by now... :)

good luck mate

Hi Beans,

Welcome to WebmasterWorld. [webmasterworld.com]

You can find a lot of interesting tools on top of each forum index page. Here is the Google News index page [webmasterworld.com].

On top of this page you can find the forum's charter [webmasterworld.com]. A very important thing to read before any post.

The site search feature has been rendered almost useless by recurent posts on the same topic. This is why we sorted all the very best ones in the library [webmasterworld.com]. This can avoid you a lot of browsing. I think you could be interested by thread # 35

Brett (our host) also put together a thread called The Google Knowledge Base [webmasterworld.com]. A gold mine of information.

I hope these tools can help you find relevant quality answers.

Good luck with you PR 0 recovery and enjoy your stay!

Hi All,
Thanks for the welcome, and the great answers to this. After reading more posts, and especially the goldmine of information on post #35, I think I have the answer. I don't think it will apply to a lot of people but I will share anyway just in case.
Site #1 was set up to sell a product. Then we introduced another product as an afterthought. This second product really took off, so we wanted to start a site for that specifically to target traffic to it, instead of people just stumbling on it. So, we started site 2 the problem site.
But, the products are still displayed on site 1, and all have a product display page which ranks PR0 even though the main site ranks high. All these zero ranking product pages (100's in all) point to help pages and the home page on site 2. I think this is what is killing site 2.
I'm off to play robots.txt and anything else to see if I can get these product pages out of the index.

Thanks once again for all the help
