After I found out that some of my clients make printouts from certain pages, I created a printer friendly version with all the navigation and menu stuff stripped off. I am wondering if Google might see it as duplicate pages and dash out some kind of penalty. I guess the percentage of same contents is about 80% of the original page. Any experience or opinion on that? - thank you

Hi,
I had the same problem a while ago. I dicided to put the meta tag <meta name="robots" content="noindex"> in the print template.
It works very well. No problems with google or any other se.

Thank you NN - That would put me on the safe side. On the other hand, the idea of having a few more "eggs in the Google basket" is certainly a charming one. The printer friendly page could even be ranked better, as it is nearly "pure" text. The basic question for me is, at which percentage of duplicate contents starts the Google danger zone? 30%, 50% or more like 90%?
