How do you determine if Google merged your listings.

(Multiple domains pointing to the same site)

I have two domains pointing to the same site. This has been the setup for several years and, as a result, both domains have pervaded into the Internet. From what I have read, Google often will detect this and "merge" the sites. This appears to be my situation but I'm not sure. Here's why:

  • Google SERPS sometimes show listings for both sites. For example, a search for "widget" will display www.site1.com/widget.htm and www.site2.com/widget.htm.
  • Both sites have different PageRanks for many corresponding pages. For example, www.site1.com/widget.htm will have a PR6 and www.site2.com/widget.htm will have a PR3.

But a link report for the site "link: www.site1com " & "link: www.site2.com" shows identical link count.

If the link: search results are the same then they're probably merged.

If the cache: search results list the same URL at the top of the page then they're merged.

When you search for www.site1com/word/ and www.site2.com/word/, if both listings link to one URL then they're merged.

Where two URLs show different PageRank, they're probably not merged.
