In a nutshell, using frames with search engines (including Google) good or bad?
I ask because the index.htm page will be the frameset page but contains no keyword content that is needed for people to searh on. if google indexes my site with frames and lists each frame separately, then it defeats the object. I would like people to hit my frameset page when searching but this is unlikely if google's cached version of my frameset page contains not valuable keyword content.
is there a way around this? is it worth the bother?
Thanks to anyone who offers advice.
So when someone searched for 'blue widget' our bluewidget.htm page would come up in the serps. When they clicked on the link the bluewidget.htm page would see no frameset and load one. Of course this won't work with non-java browsers but that's a small minority.
Also you will need to put links to your framed content pages somewhere where googlebot can find them
