Google.uk vs Google.com - Cache

Hello everyone

Just something I've always assumed about google UK is that it is basically the full google index but with a UK filter on it.

But the cached items on each is different - if I view a cached page on google.com it came up with a newer page than the one on google.co.uk, they are both the same now, but does google.uk use a copy of google.com index rather than a direct link into it?

Nope, I have this wrong - Google.co.uk and Google.com are displaying the "newer" page *but* if I use the "google information" button on the google toolbar it brings up an older page. I assumed that if I set the toolbar to use google.co.uk the the cached page would be from google.co.uk.

Hi craigtubby - and welcome to the forums

I just checked on google.com, google.co.uk and the toolbar - I am not seeing any differences in the cache.

Anyone else seeing this?

Well it seems that using the (I) button on the toolbar takes you to a different cache :-

With google.co.uk you get :
www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=navclient&q=cache:http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Exyzaaa%2Ecom%2F

With google.com you get :
216.239.39.100/search?sourceid=navclient&q=cache:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.xyzaaa.com%2F

Searching for the page and using the cache on that gets you to :
www.google.co.uk/search?q=cache:UPNgGE2UCFsC:www.xyzaaa.com/+xyzaaa&hl=en&ie=UTF-8
216.239.39.100/search?q=cache:UPNgGE2UCFsC:www.xyzaaa.com/+xyzaaa&hl=en&ie=UTF-8

Respectively - Strange.
