That's why I suggested that webmasterworld.com is taken as an example. And even though the site is spidered several times, only one will count as the final cached page.

My own monitoring in this sense proves to be very helpful (for me ) - from data regarding the last updates and spider dates, I know that any changes I want to be included in the next Google update should be made within approximately 12 days of the start of this one (Aug.21st).

Any predictions for the next update?

I'm so hyper over this one as a new website with over 400 pages got fully spidered and is getting hit daily... I wonder what its initial PR will be... Will it be before or after the 20th September?

I predict that the Google update will happen, and that Brett or one of the Mods will make the formal announcement in a new update thread when it is confirmed the new update is underway. Speculation is just going to irritate the powers that be....

Mannnnnnnnnn I got some hot links that should be picked up on this new update.. I am grinning in anticipation.. keeping my realistic goal low but dreaming big.. cmon google.. actually wait. I have some updating to do... can you please wait a week till you spider me and include this spidering in the update a few days later... I asked nicely... pretty please, with sugar and whipped cream and a marashino cherry...

Apart from the excitment and anticipation the google dance seems to create, is there any actual strategic advantage in being "in the know" before or as the update happens?

Since I've been in this forum I have added a ton of new links and critical content. Last index I moved up in my keywords like a NASA rocket. This update I feel like like a virgin boy on his way to his graduation prom with hopes of just one Google kiss...:)

If you look at www2 and www2 during the dance and find you've messed something up which has caused the pages not to rank as well . you can do it during the dance as google spiders at its highest speed right after the dance, so if you do it during the dance and google spiders you, there's a chance the screwed up page will be replaced with the modified one...

Or at least you will know it will be in the next one

C'mon google - I wanna see how you've spidered some of my pages and what the new PR is (currently only 3 due to domain inactivity for months). I have worked hard to earn some good links back so I'm giddy with anticipation.

But, until the dance it's finished you can't know where your pages will rank for the rest of the month... Sometimes I have gained or lost 10 positions in rankings between the beguining and the end of the dance so I wouldm't trust in the results during the dance.
