But some people have been advocating simple web design for years. It seems that the era of super complicated homepages is starting to die out, and the new look everybody wants is the look of simplicity.
Adult sites, often the starting point for most great web ideas, learned ages ago that there is NO better homepage than the three button homepage (members, preview, join.) Simple site = popular site. Complex site = dazzling, confusing, and sends people running from where they came.
The lesson: people want simplicity. If Lookle and Google are the only major sites with simple homepages, then that just means that they are the first sites of a new wave of HTML design. (After my sites, of course!)

I have the same reservations that I have about a large number of search engines...we don't need 5 or 6 identical SEs...we need a whole bunch who specialise in producing different types of search result...if Lookle is to thrive and survive it needs to develop a very clear identity...and not just in terms of image...there has to be a reason to use that SE in particular
