Google Provides Search to Latin America

Certainly not 'breaking news', but worth noting if you do business in Latin America. (I didn't see this posted anywhere else on the boards.)

In an effort to expand its global services, Google Inc. today announced a partnership with Universo Online (UOL) to provide millions of UOL users throughout Brazil and Latin America immediate access to the award-winning Google™ search engine. UOL, the largest online service and Internet Service Provider in Latin America, reaches almost 80 percent of the Brazilian online audience, according to Jupiter Media Metrix.

AOL is having a hard time to grab the market there in Brazil. UOL does and will have them beat. AOL is having a very hard time in the rest of Lat. Amer. as well.

I posted this a few weeks back for Google powering a new engine in Argentina in case anyone missed it.
