Google powering regional lycos sites ?

Not sure if this is old news or not, but I couldn't find anything on a quick search.

I've got a few referrals in the last few couple of days from site [google.lycos.co.kr...] (Korean). If I try and test it out, it just seems to search from search.lycos.co.kr. However I can't read Korean so I can't say for sure if it is the default, a sub-option or whatever. The results seem to be the same as from the main Google.com site.

I wondered if anyone else has noticed anything similar from other Lycos sites, and if it was a sign of things to come at Lycos ?

Welcome to the board, Mikel.

It sure is Google. Here's a thread about the change from FAST to Google in Canada and Germany.

Definately alarming for Fast.
TerraLycos is a network, with different ownership relations. sympatico for example is just 21% Lycos owned.

But it appears Google is the more promising choice for portals right now. Portals are in urgent need for new revenues.

I think I am starting to see a pattern here! Google is gaining ground while Fast is losing ground.

In doing a quick search, it appears that the ODP data is translated into Korean, whereas the Google snippet is returned in English.

Interesting.

You guys keep noticing these changes soon after they happen! In addition to Sympatico and web.de, I believe that Google is providing results for Lycos Korea and Kanoodle. And EarthLink, of course.

I mentioned it on the other thread, but I'm excited that Google is working with Lycos in Korea, in Canada (via sympatico.ca), and with Lycos Asia.

Googleguy, I would be too! Bonuses at the end of the fiscal year! Googleguy, can you give me your word that Google won't go Pay for Play in the next year?

backus, I don't expect anything of the kind. I never make a promise unless I know I can keep it though.
