Im currently re-designing my site after readin around here a fair bit and realising that it is not built at all well for SE's!

Im considering creating pages that are for for the same product only concentrating on different keywords. This is because there a few keywords that i want to concentrate on per product and after reading round i thinks it best to concentrate a page on a maximum of 2 keywords. These pages will look just like the actual website only be the gateway from the search engine and the navigation links will be to the most heavuly used keyword varient of the paticular page

Firstly will this work? and secondly how different will they have to be to not be counted as duplicates by google. For instance it is possible i could have a different page for each manufacture for each product to concentrate on their paticulur keyword, with the main navigational links pointing to a page that contains all the manufactures. This would however take a fair bit of time so the less different the pages have to be the better!

The way i was thinking of linking this all together would be to create a sort of site map page that links to all the various pages and link to this using a transparent image from the homepage > that way google can spider them all.

I think you should look for the balance between a site that has good navigation (structure) for the users, and your seo efforts.

If you need more pages per product you could make one page with features and another with technical specs for example. This way it looks logical to your visitors and you don't have to worry about your two pages per product looking like duplicates.

As this is a common way of presenting products on a website you would not have to use the transparent image...just make a link from your homepage to your product list.

Same effect..less risk.
