Peace be with you all and hopefully some peace and rest to our friends at Google. Psst > Googleguy > have you ever heard of “Bring your kids to work day”? Maybe you can join us in our collective “Day Off From Google” and we can invite you to a “Bring your GoogleGuy to the Content Forum” day, haha!
Seriously though, I see a trend that weaves through our industry here with a few strong sides showing face. Perhaps it’s a natural flow of human nature. Look through the Google index and notice how many times spam is mentioned, fretted about, pondered over and so on. Through that weaves this ‘ethical’ element pushing for industry standards. Air beautifully illustrated the frenzy of it [webmasterworld.com].
This past week I researched the webmastering industry and was quite surprised really with the varied focus and direction companies were taking. I was delighted with the amount of information some were willing to share. I was disappointed as well with the lack of care and attention paid to a number of sites, being of the mind that you at least keep your home tidy and fresh. If that is troublesome then keep it simple.
I believe we have justification to be obsessed with Google. I’ve been researching and ultra focused on and through Google for the past 2 1/2 years and I don’t see that changing any time soon. What I would personally like to see more talk about is how these ‘other’ skills, including the ability to create fresh, unique and relevant content, is what we need to strengthen our standing in Google. But hey, I am here to learn. ;)
