is there any tools available that simulate how a googlebot sees a site. I want to know how to optimise my site for a particular search engine as i understand different search engines weight criteria differently.

I think you are going to be hard pushed to get the algo out of google. If we are lucky and promise to keep real quiet perhaps GoogleGuy will let us in on the secret :)

You are only really going to get to grips by experimenting and observing the SERPs. I am sure if you go though these forums you will pick up some gems which you could apply.

Have you seen the keyword density analyser ?
[searchengineworld.com...]

Use that and you can quickly see if you are approaching spam with some of your words. It does not grade the words (title, H1 etc)but show what a spider would see. As every engine will have their own algos there is no one generic approach.

There was a post on this recently, but I cannot find it. I am sure someone else will chip in.

Cheers
