Using the Google toolbar > Page Info > Cached snapshot of page

Google says about their cache:

"Google takes a snapshot of each page examined as it crawls the web and caches these as a back-up in case the original page is unavailable." [http://www.google.com/help/features.html]

Question: Is there a way to tell exactly what day it was that a specific page was put into this cache?

I believe that Google once made that information available, but they do not date their caches any longer.

That's too bad... I wonder why they stopped? Can't take up that much server space to put 8 more characters [ex: 08/10/02] in the "cache box" when a person pulls it down from the toolbar, and it would be useful information.

Reno,

[search2.cometsystems.com...]

check the archived copy, it gives you a date stamp of the Google cache, there have been some threads on this.

Good resource vitaplease -- thank you! Don't know how they are able to indicate the last google cache date, but am glad they do....
