geocities and pr!

just wondered if sites setup under the geocities name get here pr handed down from geocities.com?..because i came across a pr7 site under the geocities heading that appeared to have no links!?

The PR you see is just a toolbar guess. I have not found any PR rub off from geocities.com to any sites hosted their.

I dunno. There was a thread around here somewhere about AOL passing on PR through its hometown.aol.com personal pages. The messages were pretty interesting, and as I recall they were not Google Guesses. Probably that thread can be located with keywords like: AOL PR, hometown, boost, etc.

If you get linked from a high PageRank page, then you are likely to get good PageRank.

If you just happen to be on the same domain, then you get no PageRank from that.

If a geocities.com/whatever page has no links to it and is submitted then it's likely to be in Google with a natural PR0. If it has a link from a PR8 page then it's likely to have PR7.

Possibly, but only for a short time, at least that's what appears to be happening.
