Changable or Static - which is best?

Does Goole like change?

I've tried searching the forum for an answer, but can't find one.

The main page of our web sites are pretty static, from time to time we add a new location, but the content and wording all remain the same.

What does Google prefer? Should we keep changing the main page to give the appearance of being fresh or does Google not like people 'fiddling' too much, or does it matter at all?

Good question. Changes will definitely get you spidered more frequently, but can't say that I have seen any evidence that it affects ranking one way or another. I just like to know that Google is thinking about me :)

If you might add new content in the near future that you would like indexed quickly, then the fresh listings should be of benefit. Otherwise I don't see that it makes any difference.

Very frequent spidering comes with an Open Directory or Yahoo! link or high PageRank.
