As I understand it, Google likes sites that have pages with high PR linking to them. I have a brand new site with "no" inbound links yet and am looking to get some with high PR.
So, for instance if I did a search in let's say Teoma on my keywords, and the Google Bar read PR7 when I see the results. Does that mean that the pages listed in Teoma (on that search page) have an inbound link of PR7 automatically in their favor? So basically if that were the case if you were to get listed on that PR7 page for your search term, it would give you a PR7 page linking to your site?
I know having a link from Yahoo is advised (which I submitted today), as well as DMOZ...would paying for inclusion in sites with high PR in your search term page be advantageous in being recognized in Google?
Sometimes I feel conflicted with the question of, am I doing the right (ethical) thing vs doing the thing that will give me results.
These boards have taught me that doing the right thing is always the way to go...and hey...I can sleep at night. (when I'm not here reading in Webmasterworld).
Thanks for any input,
Linda

The google toolbar does not always give you an accurate view of the "true PR" of a page. If a sub-page of a website is not indexed by google the toolbar will make an educated guess on what the PR "should be" based on the PR of the index page... generally the guessed PR is one less than the index page for every directory level you go down.
This is the case with teoma search pages - they are not actually indexed by google but the index/home page is.. the toolbar is just guessing at what the PR value should be - therefore the teoma search results pages have no PR - having a listing here will not benefit your website (in google). Yahoo and DMOZ are a different case - both of these sites are fully indexed by google and therefore having a listing on a high PR page on one of these sites will provide a benefit to your site.
- note: sorry for the long sentences.
So Ferrari360...is the index page PR (as seen in Google toolbar) usually the only accurate (relatively speaking of course) evaluation of PR of a page?
:)and thanks, Linda
