Whoah! I thought that by wed. google was all settled down for the new month. I was a little disgruntled because i had moved down a position from a major keyword.

Then, in the wee hours of the night, the google bot cable and fluttered about my asp pages.

This morning, like a visit form the toothfairy, I was pleased to see that I had once again jumped to #1 for this major keyword.

Is it all settled down now?

Can't say for sure, but I too thought Google was done for this month. Then this morning I moved from the 10 spot up a notch to #9...

There's definitely something going on. I've just checked the different data centers and for the same keyword I'm #10, #11, #13 (twice) and #14. I've already seen differences between the data centers but not like this yet.

Well, it switched back again to what it was the other day.

Anyone else experience this? Is this some sort of new 'rotating alago' they have in place?

We went through this all last month and wondered. There are minor shifts and bumps all month long now, it looks like we'll just have to get used to it, it's continuous.

I think the reason for these chabges are due to movement at the top. Google seams to spider high PR sites almost daily. As they change about in rank it has a knock on effect to the entire serps.

What do you think?

I've seen some of my newly created forum pages added to Google on 8/29 and 8/30. I can't seem to figure out why it picked those pages over others. These new pages are ranking nicely. My site's PR is 6.

Google often does funky things like this. One of my sites, which is still 0 ranked, has just appeared back in the directory (on page 3 mind) AND it's got a Fresh! 1st August 2002 label next to it. Very odd but what the hey...!

Same thing last month with constant minor shifting, it seems likely it'll continue. Some sites seem to be switching places daily (like musical chairs).

I can't figure it out, but I'm beginning to wonder if it's got anything to do with measuring click-throughs for some reason. There will be a different number of click-throughs depending on position in the top 5 or 6, especially the coveted top 3.

The one I'm watching a couple of times a day has #1 and #2 planted there firmly right now. After doing some checking I think I well understand how they're there, but I'm not even going there. ;)

I am wondering, though, if this is at all a possibility, how many clicks a site gets with "untitled" for the page title and "coming soon" for the description - plus the ODP cat and description. There's one that keeps fluctuating between #1 and a few down, and I keep clicking to see if they've put anything up yet. They have, I won't go there either. :)
