Yahoo pure Google listings

I haven't posted for awhile, but I saw the weirdest thing today. I was checking for new Google rankings on Yahoo shooting for keywords that are a little less popular so Google results showed, then I realized that no matter what keyword I typed in I was getting Google SERPS and nothing else. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't find a directory listing for any keyword. After about an hour it suddenly switched back to directory listings and google backfill, but it was amazing. I could tell that Yahoo even added its own algorithm or filtered results, because I had moved up a notch for a major keyword that was just added in the latest Google update.

Don't really know what to make of this, just thought I'd say something.

This does seem strange.

Did anyone else experience this?

Saw something similar towards the end of June - what appeared to be unbranded Google results.

That's true. I've seen lately in my referer logs people coming to my site with a yahoo query that should have produced a yahoogle answer... Tried to copy and paste the URL but could not find my listing, as it was the *real* yahoo results...

Thought the referer was forged, but it seems I'm not alone :) , so... VERY STRANGE

8:03 a.m. US Pacific Standard Time and Yahoo is again showing unbranded Google results for every keyword.

I'm still seing regular Yahoo directory listings for at least one section. Are you sure you guys aren't seeing Yahoogles because you are searching on keywords for which there are no Yahoo categories?

I'm really curious about this development because for a day the Search.Aol referrals were going through the roof and replaced Yahoogles as number 2 referror. Now Yahoogles are kicking butt against AOLoogles. So I'm thinking maybe you guys are right. I guess I'll go do some more digging.

Just spent some time swimming in Yahoo - haven't done that in a while. The thing I see is that if you search for multiple words or use a search term that isn't directly on point, it does seem as if the results page consists chiefly of paid listings and Yahoogles. I'm wondering if yahoo has decided to limit the use of the directory - you do sometimes get a directory listing - or if maybe this is a revenue generating thing. It is also possible that Yahoo is revising their search mechanism and this is a stopgap until that is ready for use. Just guesses but I think you guys are on to something.

well if the keywords "insurance" and "search engine" show yahoogle results lately then yes, I'm wrong, but I've searched those terms and 3 word phrases before and still got directory listings.

Also, I just typed in "insurance" again, all Google results.

You know, maybe Yahoo finally realized how much they were promoting spammy URL's with their directory inclusion. Sure, if they go ahead with the "no-directory serps" than a lot of people would have spent a lot of money for virtually no reason (and the logic behind cutting off a yearly revenue stream like that is beyond my thinking), but if it happens it may just be for the better. Better results.

Seems to depend on where you are from (because I've tried many times to do the same query as I have found in my referals and could not find my listing). Fore sure the 2 keywords phrase I'm tracking has always produced yahoo listings instead of yahoogle...

Just searched "insurance" and got a page which included:

Inside Yahoo! Matches
Category Matches
Sponsor Matches
Web Site Matches (Yahoogles)
More Sponsor Matches

So I'm not seeing the same results page as keywordbuys
