How can you tell when googlebot visits?

I see the update, I am wondering about the lag time. Despite the update it appears that my cached page is at least two weeks behind the current. I am not sure how to tell googlebot has visited. In my webtrends reports I see googlebot listed as a browser but no indication of google in the spider visits.

This presents two questions.
1. How current is the update?

2. How can you tell when googlebot has visited?

Thanks

Your cached page is usually atleast 30days behind what's live. Sooner than that, and you've done good. Googlebot crawled the full web over the last week and that will make up the next update. Some high value pages (higher pr5's and up) will get crawled between now and then and the cached page will be updated.

To find GoogleBot, will all depend on your logging software. Pull up your log file software and look for "googlebot" in the agent name of the log software with "google.com" or "googlebot.com" as the host.
