Hi there,

it was in the news today here (Germany) that Google is censoring content.

It is a nazi site... which is basically a good idea to block, but this is the first kind of censorship you can not unlock in google, i know of. Is that fact known here?

cheers,

Pontifex,

I don't know if this is a different issue or not, but Deutsche Bahn was threatening to sue Google (and Yahoo and AltaVista) for linking to a page that offered instructions on how to sabotage railway systems. This was last April; if I recall correctly all the engines potentially involved in the lawsuit removed the material. You can read about this at www.nwfusion.com/news/2002/0416suegoogle.html .

It is Good to know that Google have the ability to do this. Google, especialy since they started providing for AOL need to make sure they are giving the end user what they want.

RBuzz,

ah, i heard about it, thanks for the link. I wonder how this suit ended, any idea?
I wonder what the additude of google is regarding the local laws? I mean Asia and the Arabic regions have major problems with porn, right? Where does that start or end? Censorship is a dangerous sword, IMHO...

my 2 pennies...
