DMOZ effect on Google

Site A has PR6 and is listed on the relevant DMOZ page, which is also PR6. Site B (same topic) has PR5 and is not listed on the DMOZ page.

A Google search using the two primary keywords turns up Site A as the first result, Site B as the second result.

The DMOZ page has only three links, and the immediate category name is the same as those two keywords. Also, the domain name of Site B is those two keywords separated by a hyphen.

If Site B was added to the DMOZ page, do you think it would become the first result? Is it possible to tell?

Hi Tradnor,

Welcome to the boards. There is usually more to story than that, but it should certainly help.

On a related note, I'm finding the category title of the DMOZ/Google directory listing, has perhaps the major influence on search returns by keyword.

Im assuming they are trusting DMOZ to a large degree to categorize sites, and much of the relevance quotient is derived from DMOZ.
