I can't figure out why it's using the tag instead of the ransom note. I'm happy about:) But I sure would like to know why so I can make it happen on my other sites.

1) Yes, there is text on the page. Although not a lot and most of it is links.

2) No, it's not my dmoz description.

If any one has any ideas, I'd love to hear them. I don't think I'm supposed to name the site, but I can sticky mail it or maybe it's cool if I add the link to the SERP?

Hi mona,

I don't think we ever came up with an exact answer, but it's looking more and more like a "time of the month" thing.

Here is the thread from last month.

I sure wish Google would make the switch permanent. My serp ransom note description gets worse every month for my most important keyword phrase. This month it is pushing visitors away!

>like a "time of the month" thing.

Hehehe, so Google IS female, huh?

Thanks, WG. I actually remember that thread when it started. But my sites weren't involded then, so I didn't follow it - woops.

Well, it looks like I've got something to keep me busy for a while....

What they should do is show both. I've been working on a project that involves a search tool, and that's what we're doing. Title, meta description, and excerpt from the page.

It allows the user to read the site owner's description also see the phrase being used in the context of the page. Kind of the best of both worlds.
