I don't know what's happing any more.. I've worked hard to get my placement up with google...made some changes.. and guess what two weeks ago I came out number #1 on page 1 for my keyword.. I was excited.. It cached my new page with changes... 24 hours later it was all gone... my site went back to page 8 and the new cached version of the file went back to the original.. I was very upset.. a week later it did the same thing again.. it cached the new version for 24 hours... but this time my placement stayed the same... but 24 hours the cached version went back to what it was a month an a half ago.. weird... so it looks like even though it cached my page, it keeps a backup of the previous cashed version..

Does this make sense.. can any figure out why the cashed version keeps going back to what it was a month and a half ago?

alamanos there is a lot of speculation on what google is up to right now, it seems they are trying to do some sort of constaint update dance thingymabob. There has been alot of people talking about fluctuation. Just take a look in this forum at some of the posts over the last month.

I am thinking since googles has over 10,000 servers all with any given server having a backup for itself (or multiple), if a server drops and it's backup comes online it might not be up to date thus changing the results you see, of course this is just my theory.

There was an article on slashdot [interviews.slashdot.org] where they asked Craig Silverstein questions.

hi alamanos, welcome to WmW.

Keep increasing your Google page rank through getting more links to your site and adding more content. You will soon find yourself rock solid at the top of many searches if you optimize correctly and increase your PR.

And then again, Alamanos's site may have been injected into the mix after the last big update, which means you're going to show up, then go away, back and forth until the following update, which will be in several days. He said this began 2 weeks ago, which would be a bit after the last update.

Thanks for the advice,

my page has been up now for about 6 months.. just left it there didn't update much.. my PR is 5 on the main page.. wich is good I think... but for my keyword i'm still on page 8.. the guy on page one has only a PR of 3.. anyway i cleaned up my site.. deleted some JPG's and some text.. after reading some of the posts here.. I'll see if that helps.. (google might think i'm spamming)

also does posting to google groups help with PR..

google must spider the groups... and one last question... on the google toolbar you have an abilty to vote... anyone now how many votes it takes to make a differnce..

Thanks

Nick

I wish i could get 1% of that amount {100} computers working togeather on one project. (i am not refering to 100 threads to run an interactive system but all computers focused on a common task)

Although having 100 computers working togeather as a interactive personal computer for my use would kinda be cool also.

etones it is one of the advanced features you need to turn on. Nobody really seems to know if it does anything or whether it means anything, but it is a nice smiley face.
