A new site of mine was crawled heavily over the last couple of weeks. I was expecting to have to wait for the dance, but I started seeing referals over the last few days. It was not in the index Friday.

So I am in, is this normal? I have just never watched log files so closely ;-) so I am curious.

Cheers

Quite normal, you'll probably find the site dropped again over the next 48hrs, then it'll reappear a week later....

Google likes to play hide and seek with new sites ;)

I'm not sure. I'm beginning to suspect this is a proper update and we're going to see two a month from now on...

Ha. That would account for the absence of GoogleGuy. Busy busy.

No. Definately not an update. Link counts for WebmasterWorld on www, www2 and www3 are all exactly the same.

It would be great if google started making updates twice a month.

>twice a month

I don't think bretts bandwidth could cope with 2 updates a month with the 170+ postings

Hmm, how bad can it be ?

If the site cannot handle 5-6 requests per second and operate normaly - something is wrong with the site.

It is all a little strange, as mentioned in other posts some of our sites cache are still showing pages from 31 May 2002. Weird.

As mentioned above all www's are showing the same SERPS, I am expecting a very deep crawl perhaps this month, but it does look like something is changing at Google.

I agree changes are happening
Today i check some of my sites and theyre all gone, no PR (greyed out) and not in the index.

I know why, we had server problems at the wrong time this month, its just curious that its happened now. I was waiting till the end of the month, seems aswell as mid month inclusion we have mid month exclusion.

Annoyingly i dont have access to the logs for these sites so i dont know when googlebot last visited.
There was a tool somebody posted a week or two ago that showed last time google crawled your site. Does anybody know where it is, cant find it with the site search?, it would help my situation greatly
TIA

Some of our sites that were previously cached 31 May 2002 are now cached 14 July 2002 and is the same through the wwws.

and just to add to what I said above it has already been reindexed and is now 15 July cached.

This looks like pretty good evidence of a more frequent update.
