Is there a Google page somewhere that lists all the regional googles? The Google search is really easy to use, but finding stuff on their own site is not always so much fun.

There's a list of regional Googles at [google.com...] .
Look at the bottom of the page.

Aha, thanks.
Another question - can someone tell me how www.google.it works?
For example, if one searches for "book reviews" using the "Cerca le pagine nella categoria Italiano" option, the 4th result is neither inside .it, served from a machine inside Italy, nor in Italian...

I think you will find that an amount of that page actually is in Italian and to do with Italy.

Yes, but it's much harder to identify pages about a country... I hadn't realised Google was doing that.
But what does "nella categoria Italiano" mean? Is it "pages in Italy", "pages in Italian", or "pages about Italy"? If it's the latter, it's unique among the regional Googles that I've looked at.

It means "in the Italian category"

mack: That's what I guessed it meant, but that makes www.google.it different to all the other Googles I've looked at, which are either "pages from <country>" or "pages in <language>" (or both).
Are there any other variations on this? (I can't work out what options the Polish, Japanese, or Korean sites offer at all.)

In italy the word category may mean pages from italy.. used in different context???
an exact translation from english to italian might not read well to an italian audience.
