Strange space in SERP URL displayed

Why is there a space in the URL for my page?

Results for some of my pages have a mysterious space in the middle of the URL that's displayed under the page title in Google's SERP.

It's not a problem, certainly, but strange. Has anyone else seen this?

Welcome to WmW, tmsjay.

I've seen it, but not in the middle. It's in one filename / page.html
I don't have a clue.

This could be a trick for very long URLs so that the line still wraps nicely.

Actually, that's an idea for that other thread... ;)

The fact that it makes screen scrapping difficult, is just a side perk :)

I think you're on the right track, Bird. It only seems to happen to long URLs (and I'm guilty as charged on that one!)

Thanks to all for the speedy responses.

I suspect its purpose is to mess up position checking software.
