Would someone please be able to help. I am starting to panic slightly now as I have not been visited by Googlebot for almost 2 weeks. I am sure that this is not normal. When the site first went online (about 1 month ago) google bot was there, allocated a PR0 and was returning the site as #1 for the url without the http://www and the - and the .com, so as far as I knew I had been "shallow" crawled. Then no more than 1 day later, just about the time google was updating, the site was nowhere to be seen....

gone....

Ever since Googlebot has not so much as sniffed around the site which has given me reason to believe that I have done somthing that has seriously pissed her off?

What could I have done? And if I have done anything I shouldn't have then how do I get her back?

I have seen so many sites using so many dodgy tactics that are all ranking on the first page of the serps that I am sure I have been playing clean, but could really do with someone clarifying this! Thanks.

Googlebot only visits me once a month.... for about 5 days. usualy sometime shortly after the update has finished it then disapears not to return till the folowing month.

Your 2 week absence is probaly a similar situation...the data it gathered the last time round will go into the up-coming update. It will then come back to see you after the update has settled down. I think google will visit you more if you have a PR7 or greater.

chowcat, Google has been doing little changes and additions mid-cyle now, but it's nothing like their regular update and crawl cycle, which is once a month.

If you've had the site up only a month, and your last visit was two weeks ago, that is perfectly normal Google behavior, and you should be added for real this coming update, at the end of July, with normally computed PR for the site's pages. Consider anything you see before then to be a sneak preview.

Just fine tune your site if it's needed, develop some quality relevant inbound links, submit to ODP if you haven't already, and join us for the party, for our regular monthly WmW Google_Watch during the update, which you'll see announced here. In fact, it will probably be announced several times a day for about a week before it actually happens. ;)

OK, I will my full confidence in you lot, I'm certain you all know what you're doing. It seems I am about to encounter my fist ever dose of Google Fever, hang around these forums long enough and it becomes contagious. Thanks for the replies.!
