My web host accidentally pointed one of my parked domains to an old site of mine that they never deleted off of one of their servers. The result is that this formerly parked domain was crawled, is now indexed by a few search engines, and because the content of the old site is so similar to my primary site, I believe I have now been banned from Google, Yahoo and others for what appeares to be a mirrored site. I have also been re-indexed under this parked domain by Teoma and Askjeeves.

My web host recognizes this was an error on their part and has composed a detailed email describing what happened indicating that they take full responsibility for the mistake. However, neither they nor I know the appropriate email addresses at these SE's to send this correspondence to.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Snail mail addresses may be of use too.

Thanks,

Toby

Seek everyones support email address and hope it ends up in the right hands :) I only got spam report addresses for those who put up pr0n sites in place of my favorite sites that were hijacked.

Since your host is willing to help out, I would do it this way.

Have them post the email as a web page on your old domain. Then go to

[google.com...]

and go through the process of notifying them that you would like to have all of the old pages removed. Use the page containing the letter from your host as the proof that you control the original domain.

That page will be read by someone at Google, and the old pages should be removed pretty quick. If your lucky, they might also look into the possibility of a penalty. But even if the don't, getting them to quickly remove the old pages will put you back on the road to recovery. I have yet to see a duplicate content issue turn into a permanent ban.

WebGuerrilla,

Which site should the email be uploaded to? The parked domain that was accidentally pointed is now parked again. Should the email be posted to this as well as my old primary domain?

Thanks for your help.
