Does a link placed on a PR5 page which is not cached, count?

Logically I guess not, but just to be sure...

Hi,

I guess a link on a page with a PR (say 5 as example), but not cached by Google, does not count? The PR value can be guessed by Google (frames, new site, etc...), but as the page has not actually be crawled and indexed by Google, how can my link be found or valued by Google?

Except for the traffic potential, if there is any at all, is it worth adding a link to such a page? Or could I ad somethere a link to this page from one of my pages, to get it crawled? I suppose it is not excluded by a robot.txt by the webmaster, as if it was the case, the page would be grayed out?

Can anybody correct me if I am wrong please? There are quite a lot of those pages I would consider adding a link to my page. (no FFA, Zeus or other tricky directories).

Thanks!

If an address is in Google with real PageRank but isn't cached because of the noarchive META tag then a link from it does cont.

If it is not in Google, but has a Toolbar 'guess' then it does not count.

If they link to you, you still need real PageRank from outside to flow into that page for it to help your PageRank. Linking to a page which links back to raise your PageRank is one of the PageRank fallacies, you're only getting some of your own PageRank back.

Thanks CIML,

so to sum it up to be sure I understand:

1. link from page with PR, but not cached because of noarchive meta: link counts.
2. link from page with PR, but not cached because PR is guessed and page not crawled: link does NOT count.
3. link from page with PR and cached: link counts.
4. link from page with PR lower than 4 and cached: link counts but is not viewable in my link:www.mysite.com SERP.

Thank you for clarifying this to me!
