Backlink Sites Not Listed Meaning

What PR do not listed pages have?

When I check out my competition I see 6 backlinks out of 13 but only 6 are displayed.

Now I know the other backlink sites have a fairly low PR which is why they don't show up.
My first question is what is the PR of these sites not listed most likely?

And lets say the 6 backlink sites that do show all have a PR 5.

My second question is in order to match my competition, do I need to get 6 backlinks with PR 5 plus
7 more with a PR of at least 1 but less than 3?

What is the value of those backlinks that don't appear? Basically how do I match or beat this senario?
Will 7 out of 7 backlinks with a PR 5 beat my competition in this senario?

Thank you.

Hi Rudy

You're talking about links, PR and matching or beating your competition, which are all different things.

Matching or beating your competition depends on a lot more, like the relative suitability of the two sites to a search query. PR certainly helps, but in the scenario you are talking about, the more suitable result will get the placing.

One of my new clients sites only shows up about six links but for certain keywords I targeted when building the site she is beating some sites with 30 plus links. I don't think it's fair to say that 'links are everything' in google anymore it's more a case of 'relevant links are everything'.

If it was entirely down to how many links a site had you would just see the usual suspects of adobe and msn etc at the top of every search and no one else would stand a chance.

There are a couple of really important things to do if you are trying to set up a new site and get a good listing first get a listing in yahoo (commercial site have to pay :-( ) an second submit for listing in dmoz these are a couple of really good links that are must have's. After that do the search for "add URL" +keyword in google and get some quality relevant links. You should probably have a real good read in this forum, it will take you days to read it all but there is some gold in them there hills.
good luck

rudy - only backlinks with PR4 or more will appear. So the other links which don't appear will be PR3 or less.

It helps to go to a different (shhh) search engine and do a links check. You'll be surprised at what you see.

>to match my competition, do I need to get 6 backlinks with PR 5 plus

Yes. You have it figured.

>What is the value of those backlinks that don't appear?

Completely unknown. So is "when" was the pr on those sites calced? From what data. Assume the worst case scenario, that they are all atleast pr4's.

But all that, is just on pr, that isn't including the value of the on the page criteria (title, density, yada, yada...)

Ok. So if my competitor has 13 backlinks but only 6 appear then it is possible those that don't show have a PR of 4. Is this what you are saying Administrator?

Rudy,

The links that won't show are PR3 and below.
