Google regular serp in AOL?

I have notice a significant increase of referrals from aolsearch.aol.com, it turns out and it looks like Google serps are starting to show up in AOL serp.

In fact AOL is now my 4th highest referral and that's without any paid URL to INK.

Anybody have notice this?

I checked this morning when I got back into town to see if the Google results were on aol search yet and we didn't see any changes. It is still showing all inktomi here.

Yeah still only on aol.co.uk as far as I can tell, nothing showing up in the logs from aol.com.

We are still enjoying our starters over here thanks ;)

Net_Wizard...

I have to agree with you about the AOL referrals. I have been getting a much larger amount the last few days. However, I haven't been able to figure out why. I haven't seen any of my Google serps showing up on AOL serps. I'm not saying they aren't, i just haven't seen it.

Well, I'm getting referrals from aolsearch.aol.com fresh listings. I say 'fresh' because all the descriptions in their index are current and mimic Google style of picking up the description from the body instead from the meta tag.

* If this is INK work then it's the first time I heard of them not using the meta tag 'description'.

* As a result of this new algo(?), my site ends up with several page1 results as oppose to insignificant positioning previously. Over 10x increase in referrals, hardly the cause of pure luck.

* The last time I really investigate the workings of AOL serp(I stop doing it when they dump ODP), they only list the main URL regardless if the target keyword is somewhere else. Currently, it's listing sub-URLs way down my site hierarchy(deep crawl?).

I see the same results, title and description on AOL (USA) and Inktomi.

Not fair, I've checked several sites and numerous searches and see nothing unusual yet. Definitely still matching Inktomi from here, but it sounds like things are stirring.

I'm feeling all left out ;)

Still seeing INK Serps here in NYC and via my server sitting somewhere in the southeast US. Still seeing meta tag descriptions too.

Okey folks,

I'm not saying that AOL have 'completely' converted to Google serp.

And yes, at the bottom of the page, it still says 'some results provided by:' Inktomi.

And also, the descriptions are not exactly the copycat of Google results but it's more on the technology side, I think.

Bear in mind that Inktomi sometimes uses ODP or Looksmart descriptions.

Still seeing AOL using Inktomi in the U.S. here. Looks like the same old stuff to me.

So what algo does AOL use to return SERPS. Has anyone looked into
this heavily since the google change?

How does one make a site to rank high on aol?

Obviously the same site that ranks high on google for same keywords
does rank same spot on AOL.

Rudy:

Don't spend much time worrying about getting ranked on AOL's Inktomi-fed SERPs right now. Google will be replacing Inktomi, supposedly in August, as AOL's search provider. Focus on quality Google rankings and that should transfer into "Googaol" when the changeover occurs.

I'm at a loss,

It's gone! Back to regular Ink listing!? Did I just got a glimpse as to what may come?
