Frequency of updating?

So, in other words, the higher the page ranking(according to google), the more often it checks that particular site(s), during the month(even daily perhaps) to index the new information; even though Google will wound up updating it's index once per month anyway. Is this thinking correct?

I think you are correct, although not all high PR sites gets refreshed regularly. It is a combination how periodically the site content changes (for example CNN) and the PR.
