Hi, maybe one of you lot have experienced the same propblem. For some reason the Google Page Rank bar has all of a suddern decided to give up on me..... even with google itself its showing "not ranked". Anyone have any ideas why this could be... its really beginning to "phycologically disturb me".

Thanks in Advance.

Hi

Don't panic (although I did the first time I saw my PR vanish) this does happen when google is updating it will settle down over the next few days

I had that for over a day, with major toolbar withdrawal symptoms. I tried re-installing, that didn't work.

I ended up uninstalling, clearing cache, dumping all cookies, rebooting, and then going for a fresh install. That's what worked, so if it doesn't come back for you (which, as tigger says, it might), you can give it a try.

Something Ive noticed during updates too. On the same note, you can usually tell its a google update when google suddenly becomes alot slower! (must be WMW looking up those new SERP's) ;)

I guess since the toolbar gets data from a G server that contains info about pagerank, there will be X amount of time where it cannot display it due to the update.

(There must have been a day when the search box in the toolbar was used the most) :)

Thanks anyway, I,ve had the problem for about 9 days, continuously, thats why I don't think it has anything to do with the update. I've also tried uninstalling, clearing cookies cache and all sorts, reinstalling and still absolutely nothing. I've even tried ...... wait for it..... emailing google. But they where about as useful as every bog standard tech reply. I guess I'll be page rank less for a while longer.

Probably not the problem here, but worth mentioning I think...If I view my website without the www. in front of the domain, it's gray.

[mydomain.com...] is not ranked.
[mydomain.com...] is ranked.

This gave me a scare a few times.

It could also have something to do with your ISP. I know the I have a problem with my toolbar on my home computer. Everything works except the PR bar.

I haven't contacted them to try and figure out what they are running that blocks it, but I do know that if I bring the same computer to my office, (different connection) the toolbar works fine.

I have a new site on www3 that has been indexed for the
first time. When I follow the link from www3 I get grey toolbar "page not yet ranked"
It is possible this site was penalized but I heard that greyed out toolbar is not a penalty
only PR0 is. My question is what if the grey toolbar remains even after the update is fully
complete? How can this be interpreted?

if you are in www3 you will not have a grey toolbar when the update is complete. It could be 4 or 5 more days before all data centers are updated.

One thing to look at - if you're running any sort of local proxy and/or filtering, then that may be causing you problems. I use the excellent Proxomitron (free, never see junk again, highly configurable and highly recommended), and prior to the toolbar updating itself recently all was well. Now, unless I turn off the proxy, I can see no PR at all.
Just an idea.

The PageRank will show with Proxomitron if you turn off the Website-Filter "Kill Popup-Windows 1.1"
