I have see that sometimes someone say that his page or other relevant page have X pagerank in the www3 or www2 google.

When I use the google bar I only can see the pagerank in main google. How can you see it?

Sorry but I am newbie and my english is poor.

johnypalillo,

I think you may be confusing PR (toolbar) with Position Rank (as in what position a website comes up in search results).

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, johnypalillo. Your English is much better than my Spanish.

I recall someone mentioning that the Windows Registry could be altered to change the Toolbar setting from www to www2 or www3. I haven't tried myself, though. Anyone?

Have not tried altering windows....I find having patience for a day or two works just as well with less work :)

IMO, if you look too much at www2 and 3, this could be time you could have spent getting ranked higher long term in www :)

But sorry I dont know how.......even though I hear of people talking about a change in PR right at the start of a dance (Though i think some are mistaken)

Yes ciml, that is, i have read in the last google update thread something about it.

I only spend time in www2 and www3 when the update start, it is like a racing day.
I think that in the next update, me and some friends will do a bet on our sites positions. ;)

I was the one who wrote about the registry setting. A have remembered part of the code but am still trying to figure out the final bit. Here's what I've got so far.

Go to the registry and change the default website in

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\NavClient\1.1\Options\GoogleHome

to

www3.google.com\setall?=____

The problem is I can't remember what ____ was.

Just thought I'd bump this thread back into play. For some reason my registry got changed back to WWW. Now I'm trying to figure out how I did it in the first place!

There's a new key in mine that says 'obsolete', perhaps the tool bar doesn't allow this to be changed anymore.

Maybe adding:

216.239.33.100 www.google.com

to your hosts file would do the trick.

Probably the easiest way:

Clear the cache.
Visit the page you want to know the new PR for in IE.
Go to the folder Temporary Internet Files.
There are two documents in there (besides cookies), doubleclick the one that is not the page itself.
You'll get a message from IE. Click on OK or whatever it says.
You'll see a little bit of text in your browser.
Change the IP in the adress bar to the one that progen posted and hit enter.
The last cipher in the line of text which you see in your browser is the new PR.

Markus or anyone else who knows the answer,

Can you please confirm whatīs the IP to use to check out PR in www2 or www3?

Better yet, can you please explain how to find out which IP to use in each dance?

Thanks

www2 and www3 point to 2 of the 7 data centers of Google.
if you want to check your PR on each of them, use the following IP addresses:
www-ex.google.com 216.239.33.100
www-sj.google.com 216.239.35.100
www-va.google.com 216.239.37.100
www-dc.google.com 216.239.39.100
www-ab.google.com 216.239.51.100
www-in.google.com 216.239.53.100
www-zu.google.com 216.239.55.100

Helpmebe1,
I just follow Markusī instructions, three posts above, it works OK. To know which IP to use, just do a ping www3.google.com (this month itīs again 216.239.33.100).

At my machine, the temp files are at D:\winnt\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5

Sometimes, when there are many files, it takes a while until the OS lists all the content of this folder. It happened to me today, I had to wait about two minutes before the files were listed and I could delete them (even though there was a message saying that the folder contained 0 files.

Check out if the light of the winchester is not blinking when you try to list that folder.
