Directory Updated - or not?

A couple of posts suggesting that the Google Directory had been updated. However, a compare of 6 categories from last week to today show a 1-2-1 correlation. hmmm

I saw significant movement for several sites I follow in the Google Directory. The majority of sites held their spots, with a few moving up quite a ways. This inspires me to think they updated the directory, but didn't really change the algorithm.

Google seems stale to me all the way around. I wonder if they are doing any work at the plex these days. Maybe I am just bitter ;) Anyrate I don't see any changes in Directory attm.

A site of mine was listed in Dmoz on Dec. 18th.
This morning, my logs showed two referrals from the correspondent Google Directory.
I checked the directory, but I didnīt see my site (I have just checked again); however, it looks like someone has already seen - and clicked - my listing.

Yes it has been updated. I was just added to DMOZ the other day and now I appear in the Google Directory :)

Does anybody know how much being in DMOZ(and all the sites that use its data) and Google Directory will help page rank? I currently have a PR5 site.

I posted my google adword site <snip> in dmoz, it now shows up on google and has the #1 ranking under <snip> good enough for now i guess!? I have been seeing about 20 more hits per day, i am not sure if this has to do with being listed in dmoz. I am sorry, this probable doesnt help to much.

216.239.39.104 Must be partially updated or all datacenters are in flux as I have looked at 2 Directory trees that I know very well and they have not changed. I know that changes should have happened as there is a big re-organisation going on in that part of the directory.

As for how much help, with a PR5 you would need to be high up the tree to get a good hit of additional PR. However, the main bonus is that your site is seen as more legitimate as it has been reviewed and placed in a category that the editor saw as suitable.

Another plus can be the link text that is used in the directory, it usually says 'company name' or 'site name' so if your company is called 'widget otherword' then you have just got an anchor that will help with ranking your site as widget relevant.

Was wonmdering about this, thought it was maybe just fallout from the "December Dance" as a few sites got pushed around at the end (mine got a big push - in the right direction).

first noticed the change on Tuesday. Didn't think it was all that noteworthy, though.

Have they always filtered PR Zero sites out of the Google Directory? A comparison of categories I know to be stable for months has some sites with zero PR missing from Google.

actually, I have one PR zero site showing in a DMOZ category I am certain is stable and another PR zero site in the same cat that is missing. Would anyone like to see a sticky?

Directory definetely updated in that datacenter steveb provided, some sites which were accepted into dmoz before 2 to 3 weeks are now appearing in google directory,

If you search in the directory in the Google's toolbar, site is appearing in the results without the directory root. If I go to the directory it is not there. I guess it will show up in the directory within few days.

One of my PR5 site listed on the directory now shows a PR4. But the toolbar still says PR5, and I used a few thirdparty PR checkers and they all show PR5.

Any ideas?

Went from number 63 to number 8 in the directory. BLs and OLs haven't changed in months though...must be the PR on the BLs has changed.

My SERPs are down slightly even with this major jump in the G directory.

I had mentioned yesterday that my site was listed and today it is gone. If you search the directory it can still be found but not through browsing the categories. Looks like not all of the datacenters have updated yet.

One thing I am noticing is that Google directory category pages are finding their way more and more into the main results pages. It used to be that if your site was in the Google directory it would show a link to the category next to your listing. Now they seam to be indexing the categories and putting them in the mix.

I have a hobby site with over a dozen different themes (one per directory), so I don't have a single page rank and don't try to keep track of my page ranks.

However, AdSense revenue took a substantial hit yesterday and today isn't looking good. In another day or two I may be able to see which channel(s) took the hit, and perhaps discern something from that.

On the homepage click "more", takes you to a page with lots of stuff, then click directory.
