Drop in Rankings for Subdomains

Coincidence or not?

Like quite a few people here we dropped from top three positions for many keywords to postion 500.

I have just noticed that all the sites around us are using [prominent subdomain providers]:

we use [one of those] ourselves and wondered if this was pure coincidence or not.
