Overuse of Key Words Phrases

It looks like google may prefer less keyword density?

Yo all..

Google has most certainly done something over the last few days. One of my sites had a good 3 key word phase which would be in the first 1-5 of google. Since the change (what ever that may be) its dropped to 10-12.

What I have noticed as that two other sites (not mine) have now risen to 1-5. What sets both of them apart from my site is the low key word density for my 3 key word phrase. One of the two sites doing better now only mentions the phrase twice, once in the title and once in the body of the text. My site mentions the phrase in the title and through out the page (not so it does not make sense).

Do you think there is anything in this or shall I just wait and see what happens?

cheers

Mark

Could be any of a dozen things. How old/new is the site, have any inbound links dropped you, temporary shift in the algorithm, etc. On that note I'm not one to recommend reacting to every little algo tweak - do good SEO and don't worry about it.

Is it your home page or a sub-page? If it's a sub-page, try linking to it from your home page (if you're not already). Often times that's done the trick for me.

It may be nothing you have done at all but something that has happened of page for you and your competitor . Has a link been dropped to you for example? I notice the pages around me move up and down the odd bit. I keep adding content and links and havent budged of the top in years...

moral of the story apply age old SEO tactics , googlebot accesibility , Content and quality links and rock on..

ps for what its worth i dont believe keyword density is so important in the algo, placement and proximity is probable moreso.
